How often should you change a HEPA filter?

A HEPA filter traps particles rather than destroying them, so it slowly fills up. As it fills, the purifier moves less clean air. This guide covers when to change the filter in the Air Purifier XR2.

Recommended interval

As a general guide, replace the XR2 filter every 6 to 12 months. Replace it sooner if the purifier runs all day, during smog season, or when the filter looks grey.

Our Terms of Service advise replacing the filter according to the air quality where you live: the dirtier the air, the faster the filter fills.

Signs the filter needs changing

  • The filter surface has turned grey or dark.
  • Airflow from the purifier feels weaker than when the filter was new.
  • The room takes longer to feel fresh, even on Turbo mode.

Can the filter be washed?

No. The XR2 filter is marked "Do not wash". Do not wash it with water. When it is dirty, replace it with a new True HEPA 13 replacement filter.

How to replace the filter

  1. 1

    Switch off and unplug

Turn the purifier off and unplug it from the wall socket.

  2. 2

    Open the filter cover

Open the panel that covers the filter.

  3. 3

    Remove the old filter

Take out the used filter. Do not wash it.

  4. 4

    Fit the new filter

Insert the new True HEPA 13 filter with the arrow marked "INSIDE" pointing into the purifier.

  5. 5

    Close and switch on

Close the panel, plug the purifier back in and switch it on.

Warranty note
